Lo que hemos hecho, por qué, y para qué...
Once upon a time, there was a sailor, he navigated all oceans and seas, coasts and rivers. He stopped in every harbor, played in all tables, and talked to every man and woman who encountered in his way. The path of life was a fast rollercoaster, filled....that is the word, so very much full, that there was not space for thoughts or feelings. One fine day, the boat suffered a major accident, and needed to be repaired inland for 6 months...he thought, wow, I am going to get a big vacation, I am going to travel the mountains, take the trains, walk the paths, awesome!
So he walked down the stairs to the pier, and as he reached the sidewalk, he realized, he had never saved money for this days, he had never thought of marriage, a family or having kids. He had never written his girlfriends from the many ports he had visited. He had just left, and left, and had never looked back to realize all he did wrong. All those thoughts came to him and he stayed immobile, standing in the middle of the pier.
It is never late in life to think back, and look back for a moment, and it is never soon enough to act forward and look into your future, for there is nothing you can really change of all you did, but there is always something you can do to create a better future.

What a good parable. You emphasized the fact that "it's never soon enough to act forward and look into your future." But what about the other lesson? The sailor spent his life on things that do not last. As he stood on the pier, he realized that he had never given any thought to the things that last -- things that matter -- love, marriage and family.
Yes, we need to look forward and treat each day as a fresh chance to live better. But it's also about giving time to consider what really matters, chosing purposely and wisely.
Once upon a time, there was a young girl who fell in love with a young boy. Even though she was not quite grown-up and knew it would be difficult, she was determined to marry and start a family, and so they did.
The girl devoted all her energy to her children and caring for her family. Over time, her dreams grew bigger than her world, and she realized that she had sacrificed those dreams in the name of her love for her family.
So she gave herself in love, while silently sacrificing those dreams -- dreams of sailing the oceans, traveling to far away places, and meeting many people from many different lands.
Years passed, and her children grew to adults. She still gave herself, but found that she and her husband had so completely devoted themselves to their children that their own marriage had become hollow and empty. And her dreams grew larger still.
One day, she visited the coast. She walked out on a pier, gazing at the ocean and marveling at it's vast reach. She wondered what lie beyond the horizon, but she could not see. She could not know.
She stood on the pier for the hours, wrestling with her thoughts as the sun travelled across the sky in a firey arc. She wanting badly to explore beyond her world, but was paralyzed by the choice that lay before her.
She was startled from her deep thoughts by a sailor...

Interesting parable... I do believe I'll share that on my site, with proper credit of course :-)
